World of Quest

World of Quest is an animated series based on the graphic novel (itself based on a short webcomic) story by Jason Kruse published by Komikwerks (as “The World of Quest”). The series was created by Cookie Jar Entertainment, and was animated by Mercury Filmworks East. It appears to be a parody of the fantasy genre that blends swords, sorcery and technology, in the vein of He-Man.

It premiered Saturday March 15, 2008 on Kids’ WB on The CW. CW4Kids dropped it from its schedule after airing the first-season finale “Search For Power” on June 14, 2008. It was the last series to be created for the Kids WB! block.

The show is set to air on Teletoon in Canada and Cartoon Network (UK) in the UK. It will premiere on Teletoon on Monday September 1, 2008 at 6:00pm with its regular timeslot being Monday to Friday at 4:30pm and 6:00pm and Sundays at 9:00am.

The show was nominated for Best Children’s and Youth Programme or Series by the Canadian Film and Television Production Association for their 2009 Indie Awards.

In the land of Odyssia, former hero Quest unwillingly becomes the bodyguard to Prince Nestor a young smart-alec who knows the whereabouts of a mystic dagger that is the key to ultimate power. Together, they’ll face creatures, bounty hunters and other evils vying for the weapon. In the meantime, they’ll have to deal with each other.

As Quest begrudgingly comes to terms with having to care for a spoiled princeling, the pair make their way into the deadly Forest of Edj to seek out the Rocks — the oldest, wisest, and most boring beings in all of Odyssia — to find “The Dagger of the Way” before the forces of evil do. But the two are separated while facing the perils of the forest. While Quest is pursued by an angry mob of Snarls, Nestor meets up with the wily griffin, Graer, who may have his own agenda. With Lord Spite gathering his most fierce minions, a mysterious new ally may be the key to tipping the scales in favor of our heroes.
